Pocketd
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Pocketd is an envelope-budgeting app for iPhone and Android. Give every dollar a job, track bills, goals and debt, see where your money is heading, and present a money check-in to your partner. It runs entirely on your phone, with no account, no ads and no tracking.
Need help?
Open an issue at github.com/nelsonthegr8/pocketed-legal/issues with what you were doing, what you expected, and your phone model and app version (Settings → About). Issues are public, so please don't include balances, transactions, screenshots of your budget, server addresses, passwords or API keys.
On your phone, in a database inside the app. There's no Pocketd account or cloud, so we can't see it, and we can't restore it for you. It only goes elsewhere if you set up your own sync server or connect Pocket Watcher to an AI model. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Go to Settings → Data → Export Data and pick a format (transactions as CSV, the budget as JSON, or a net worth report), then save or share the file. For an always-up-to-date copy, sync to your own server (next question). If you uninstall the app or lose your phone without either, the data can't be recovered.
In the app, go to Settings → Data & Sync → Self-hosted → Run your own server. It shows the Docker Compose file to copy and the steps to start the server on a computer you own. When the server first starts it prints a server password. Back in Data & Sync, enter the server's address and that password, tap Test connection, then Connect.
To share a budget with family, use Settings → Family: share your budget as a family budget, then invite someone with a single-use code (valid for 24 hours). They connect to the same server and tap Join with a code.
Open Pocket Watcher, tap the ⋯ menu → Model settings, and enter where your model runs: either a model server on your own computer (for example llama.cpp, Ollama or LM Studio, at an address like http://192.168.1.20:8080/v1), or a cloud AI service with your own API key. Tap Save & test. Reading PDF statements works with any model. Photos and scanned statements need a model that can see images.
If you use a cloud service, it receives your questions and the budget details needed to answer them, and charges you for usage under its own terms.
Every feature is free for 30 days from the day you first download Pocketd. After that, Pocketd Full is a one-time in-app purchase (no subscription) that lets you keep making changes. Settings → Pocketd Full shows how many days are left. If you don't buy it, nothing is taken away: your budget becomes read-only, and you can still see everything and export it.
Sign in to the same Apple or Google account, then go to Settings → Pocketd Full → Restore purchases. You don't need a Pocketd account; the App Store or Google Play remembers what you bought.
On iPhone and iPad, Pocketd Full works with Family Sharing, so everyone in your Apple family gets it on their own devices. It's also tied to one budget, which you pick when you buy: if that's a family budget shared through your own sync server, everyone in it can make changes in that budget, whatever phone they use. It can't be moved to another budget later.
